Doctor Who 2010 - casting spoiler...maybe

Honestly, I do not know if this is a true casting spoiler or just a rumor. But I thought I would report on it anyway...nothing to do with the Pony in this spoiler...just some random thoughts...under this cut

So there is talk that they have cast a 19 year old girl named Hannah Murray. I actually quite like her look and think she would be an excellent choice if they mean to go too young for romance...she could easily play 15 or so...and then they could have her be a Rose/10.5 granddaughter...or Jenny's daughter...which seems very likely to me given we are going to hit the 50th Anniversary soon.

I've just always felt they were going that way...give the Doctor some pseudo-family and "The Doctor's Daugher" and the biocompatible 10.5 make it likely. I could be completely wrong about that, of course. And, personally, I don't really want that to be the promised end to the Doctor/Rose love story. I mean, I wouldn't mind 10.5 providing genetic material but I don't want Rose to have lived that life. Still, I think it would go a long way toward giving Matt some street cred as the Doctor if he was someone's grandfather.

Here is a link to a picture of Hannah. http://www.exposay.com/celebrity-photos/hannah-murray-shockwaves-nme-awards-2007-red-carpet-arrivals-1kTIMz.jpg

She was in a show called Skins and she seems to have quality acting chops from that work. You can see her in action on YouTube. Some of the action is quite graphic, though.

She looks ideal to be either Rose's or Jenny's daughter, so excellent casting either way if it's true.
What I adore is how she actually looks like Rose and Ten had a daughter. Which was what Jenny looked like, as well, so that would also work. If you look at the icon I have of Ten and then look at Hannah you can see the same nose and eyes...then some chin and cheek from the Rose side of things...and VOILA.

See, my big problem is that with the REAL Doctor having a Rose/Him granddaughter is fabulous...but with 10.5 it makes me a little nauseous. But I can certainly see someone pitching it as the great idea for the next companion.

Rae
Dude. Is it just me or does she looks A LOT like a cross between Rose/Ten!? The eyes! OMG. It's uncanny!
Yeah! I do think they are going to do some version of that scenario...my HOPE...is we are still going to switch Doctors. I know that's a long shot hope given...well...the reality of television productions, but I will not give up on the best idea ever until RTD makes me.

However, if Ten went to Rose and Rose was pregnant...then basically 10.5 would be leaving something as equally precious as the TARDIS with Ten. And I'm thinking 10.5 could be a donor father...for Ten/Rose...rather than producing a child via unrestrained passion. This would essentially allow us to maintain the asexual Doctor fiction and also establish that 10.5 is 11, too. That he's the Doctor...just not the one in love with Rose Tyler.

It's a bit Timey-Wimey but also very nice. And I do agree...the look is uncanny for that scenario.

The best idea ever
... has a brilliant add on -

"Thanks for swapping places. Bye! Oh, before I go, there's some chilled sperm in the back of the freezer. Jackie nearly mistook it for Caviar, before I told her it was her only shot of still being alive to see her grandchildren. Young Tony still has a long way to go. Ah, domestics and staggered generations. Have fun! Allons-y! Oh, and if it's a boy, please call him Alonso. That way if you think I'm lonely and you send him over I'll know who he is. But really gotta go, now. Poor TARDIS won't get off the ground otherwise."

On a more serious note, I've sent the Humperdinck to David Tennant explaining what's wrong and why he's got to fix it.

Lisa
I hadn't even heard this rumor yet, but damn, she's a dead ringer for a Doctor/Rose offspring (or Jenny offspring, though I prefer the former!). I won't even begin to speculate on what her role would be, but hope springs eternal. ;)
I think I might prefer her to be Jenny's daughter, although having Jenny show up again would creep me out b/c of the incest-y vibes between her and Ten last time she was on the show. Hmmm...

Oh! AND:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Agreed, she does look incredibly like Billie, in particular, in that picture. I think she'd be lovely.

Hope you had a great birthday.
Happy belated birthday! I wish I could give you the perfect ending for Rose and Ten as a gift. ;)
Thanks for the birthday wishes, Bunny! I wish you had that gift granting power as well. But RTD could still come through for me. I wish he could see the heartbreaking sincerity of my pout.

On a slightly related note
I got a DVD of The Princess Bride for £5.

I nearly pissed myself laughing at the old woman booing the Queen for marrying the Prince when her true love was still out there!

The whole film is so Doctor/Rose, and the little kid the audience perplexed at the ending of season four. Of course, the majority of the audience just grumbles a bit, accepts it and hunkers down to weather the recession. We, on the other hand, are the vocal minority who want a proper ending. The natural ending. The ending we want to be inspired by in fiction, to get away from disappointing reality.

I am remarkably tempted to buy a copy of the DVD and post it to RTD.

Lisa
If there's no hope, there's no point
What did I tell you?
Humperdinck!

It's the ending that disappoints and can't be in character and even a child (well, especially a child) can tell. And yes, we are the vocal minority, booing the Doctor for his poor choice. "You had true love in your hands and you gave it away. Your true love lives."

Bow down to him if you like...bow down to the lonely god...Bow to the god of broken promises...Bow to the god of weakness and fear...Bow to the god of putrescence. Boo, boo! ...

Or put another way..."Wait, RTD, You got that bit wrong! The Doctor stays with Rose."

Hee!

Rae
glad you enjoyed the movie...it really is a master class in storytelling...one RTD should have consulted while he was sick with chicken pox.

ROTFL! Right on! I can so see that happening. Heck, I want to be the one shouting those lines at the Doctor!
